Talking to People

"I don't talk to people I know..."

This from Larry David on Curb Your Enthusiasm after becoming a part restaurant owner and his wife Cheryl incredulously commenting "You're gonna talk to people?". To which Larry replied, "I don't talk to people I know; now people I don't know, I'll talk to."

Actually, I love to talk. No, not in that "yenta" who knows everything sort of way, but to chat, get to know people. That's why blogging held an allure for me. Well, let me backtrack on how I jumped on the quickly departing blog train. I read The Long Island Press cover article about Pia's Courting Destiny blog and went to check it out for myself whereby I posted a comment and was just drawn in from there. I like a good read and found some of the blogs encountered to be intriguing in the way that a good book draws you in. Some, like Doug's Waking Ambrose are an education and just plain fun! I also wanted a creative outlet - something for just me. No waterpainting with the kids - just me!

Now, I admit to being reticent on sharing any written thoughts publicly (after all I am not a writer, maybe my vocabulary's not broad enough), but with a little generous encouragement from some kind experienced bloggers - both Pia and Doug, poof - I have a blog!

Now hopefully the people I don't know will become those that I do.

I just happened to see that episode in reruns the other night so it was timely.

Ah, we can dream eh?

Thanks again Pia.

I was a blogophobe until reading an ad in craigslist for this new site, bloggerparty.com, last Christmastide. At which point I figured "what the [deleted]"? So now, instead of being ignored by people I know, I'm ignored by people I don't. :) It has been fun, though, squirming protoplasmically through the fiber optic cables and trying to amuse, bemuse, or disabuse people.

Happy New Blog!

oceallaigh! So nice of you to drop by. You're right - sometimes you just gotta say what the *%#@!

Thanks for your well wishes - you can leave the brownies on the table!

Thanks Brian - I have enjoyed your writing. It's actually bloggers like you that encourage me to just get out there. Believe me, one thing you feel visiting your place is welcome.

Sorry, I ate 'em all. When brownies and I get together, they lose and I gain. And gain. And ... oh hell, you get the picture. Sorry.

Well this is a good start and I see some great folks already here. When Waking Ambrose started, Pia was a huge help making it what it became. I look forward to seeing what this becomes.

Thanks for your kind words by the way.

Hi again Ginah, I'm not a writer either but I find that people are listening anyway. Nobody expects perfection and if they do, they better not hang around me!

So far, your new digs are feeling like a good place to visit. I'm going to put you on my blogroll so I don't forget to pop by.

G: apparently today's the day i venture out and say "howdy" to all kinds of new folks! okay, that's a lie from the pits of hell, because you and Doug are, basically, the only "new" folks i'm saying "howdy" to, but, since i, too, prefer to talk to people i don't know, i think this works! (actually, i'm veryvery familiar with Doug's wonderful site/wordsmithin' ways, but that's beside the point!)

love the look of your new place... and i wish you all good luck! you and i are in close proximity (i'm in stamford, CT) so i'm thinkin' us northeast girls need to stick together! that said, like the delightful Kyahgirl, i, too, shall add you to my blogroll!

oh, and i hope you like orchids... i'm afraid i'm not terribly original when it comes to housewarming gifts...

p.s.- any fan of curb your enthusiasm is a friend of mine!: D

Well OC, now that I see what kind of visitor you are, I'll leave the brownies on the table for you. Of course, considering I might eat them all too, this could not work out well for either of us - let's stick to coffee. Kyah's already stated her preference for it. Thanks Kyah, as soon as I progree to Blogroll 101, I will be sure to add all present company. Puppytoes, glad you ventured out - and orchids are beautiful. Doug, that's scary, did you mention orchids to Puppytoes? All of you thanks for a first day welcome - I look forward to sharing some fun. Doug - you're very welcome - uhh, not to be indelicate - but are you and Kyah housebroken? No problem, wooden floors.

Jenna - I must admit your avatar has caught my eye - okey, maybe I drew just one deep sigh breath before I fixed my hair and got back to work. I am making my way around slowly but surely so I've also enjoyed reading about you. VI, thanks - "One flew east and one flew west and one flew over the Cukoo's Nest". Great, another movie to add to my favorites!

Well g, Doug's not here to answer your question about being housebroken. I guess its a natural thing to wonder when you're inviting dogs into your home for the first time.

The answer is 'of course, we're indoor dogs'. I think puppytoes is too.

However, I will only speak for Kyah when I say, be prepared to find a lot of fluffy white undercoat around. She can't help it.

Don't worry Kyahgirl - I think my vacuum can handle it - same to you Jenna.

To all, I am trying to make my way around and visit my new neighbors, so don't worry if you haven't seen me yet, I'm on the way.

Are you feeling better?
Sort of settled in?
Oh good, then its time to show you the REALLY crazy people!
mwah hah hah

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Logo - I had my suspicions, but chose this neighborhood just the same.

you mean some dogs aren't housebroken? who knew? hee hee! actually, i have excellent manners on any given day, and i promise to always be on my best behavior when visiting!

Puppytoes, you can't fool me as I've seen who you hobnob with over at your place. We may have to clean up our act for you.

Brian - You can call me whatever you like. I read some of your poetry in the office today and will stop by to really be able to read and absorb. What I've read so far is beautiful. Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend.

I hope you are enjoying the new addiction--I mean, hobby, of course. Yeah.
"The Pansi Files" is a bit more like watercolors with the kids, but I like it anyway.
