A Breath of Fresh Air

Sometimes you open your window and Spring is in the air. It is still cool, but the skies are a bit bluer, vapor doesn't form in little puffs and rings out of your mouth. Somehow it just feels crisp with possibility.

Sometimes you open your heart for new friendships to be made, it gets warmer still, the skies are even bluer.

Sometimes you lie in bed next to your children and listen to their breath become more shallow as sleep relaxes their body. In the warmth of their weight next to you lies the magic of the universe.

Sometimes you are truly grateful for a wonderful day and you lay down and smile.

And it's that simple.

I had the feeling today, as I was working on my house, that things couldn't possibly be any better for me than they were at that moment. Part of that was just being outside, working on the house in the nice weather, but also knowing that I had a beautiful wife and wonderful children and a perfectly nice house and nowhere else I needed to be and nothing else I needed to do. It felt like heaven. :)

Listening to the children's breathing smooth out as they drop off to sleep is a feeling which I will always have to hold. They are so innocent, so lacking of guile - really, when they fall asleep, we are completely under their power :-)

and it should be so simple, because nothing is more natural than the compassion, love and friendship we feel any given moment!

Diesel: I can just picture it - good for you! Hold on to that slice of heaven :)

Terry: It is such a beautiful feeling. You are so right - completely. :]

Goldennib: They are. Thank you. I have a feeling we'll be meeting next time? :)

Mo'a, it is and it's nice to be reminded of that. Thank you Mo'a. xox

Minka, yes it should. So very well put my little penguin. xox

I'll always love the smell of a newborn baby's head. It's been a while but it is something I always remember as wonderful. There's so much potential, so much wonder. Then, bam! they grow up, so fast your head spins. Next thing you know you're full of wonder that they lived to tell about it!

I hope so. I really am very upset I couldn't get away to see you all.

Great read...thanks for the peaceful thoughts.

I don't have kids, but I certainly feel this way when I cuddle with my puppy! :)

How beautiful!! I love to watch Miss Pinky sleep, she looks like an angel. This post really pulled at my heart and made me stop, just absolutely STOP, and enjoy for a moment.

Thank you, G.

It's stories like yours when people aren't bragging on their children but simply contemplating that makes me wish....

You do so live up to the title of your blog

Yup. During this time of much chaos and tests of strength, faith, and endurance...the blossoms on the trees, a little hand in mine, a bird singing...that's all it takes to remind me it's worth it.

Beautiful post, sister. Love to you. Cindra

It is too great when it can happen!
My son would freak if I cuddled up to him at this point--he will be 17 in May--but sometimes I still peek into his room when I come home from work to watch him sleeping for a few mintes.

Claire: Oh yes, the smell of a baby's head, nothing like it - maybe we should bottle that scent to remind us when they do grow.

Goldennib: We were upset too - work can really get in the way sometimes eh? I look forward to meeting one day.

Blurr: Thanks and puppies count! Welcome and thank you for stopping by (sorry I'm so tardy in greeting).

Pinky: I bet she does. I love my babies' sleeping faces, nothing quite like it. Thanks for stopping with me. xox

Pia: Thanks my friend - at least everyone can't hear my wheels rumbling in my head.

Doug: Of course you do.

Chikken (I do have some catching up to do eh?): Oh yes, those are the gentle reminders. Good luck with managing your chaos - you seem to be doing a good job of it. Thank you and love to you too sister.

Diesel, Sorry I think I missed out. I haven't been feeling particularly "catchy"/creative. I will stop by though to cheer the rest on.

Al: Cheers. And I'm with you on that one, oh yes.

Pavel: Thanks for joining me! Love these simple moments.

fn: Thanks my friend.

Cheesemeister - Can you still sneak a little hug in? You just tire of watching them sleep, no matter how old.

Neva, thank you. Yeesh, I could have sworn I answered these comments - maybe in my head? XOX
