It's come to this.

It was only a matter of time. You do your best to raise them well. You know they will fly on their own some day. I just wasn't ready for the day to be so soon. That's right, sniff sniff, Tali's started a blog!

Oh I know I've been careless for I'll never forget how she was drawn in when she first saw PANSI! She made me play it again and again. That should have been the tipoff. She walked by and would see the eye-catching art of David LaChapelle in MizB's header and casually ask "MIZ B?" Whenever she would read NBFF anywhere, she would say "Is that NEVA?" It started, where many bloggers linger - at DOUG'S where I believe a story inspired her to comment. It wasn't long before Doug had a little hanger on (without a blog). Well Doug, as you noted in my guest intro, now you are back to having only friends with blogs.

Nobody under the age of 13 can start their own blog on Blogspot. Fine with me, Tali can be found here in MUFFIN-LAND (name inspired by another of Neva's fab finds - MUFFIN FILMS).

I still haven't figured out how or if I can get rid of my profile from appearing on her blog as it seems we are inextricably linked in blogs as in life. That's fine as I like her under my protective wing. So stop by and say hi to the new kid on the block before I rethink the whole thing.

Have a great day!

That's great. I will do it.
Your question about my cannonicity was answered this evening on "Ask Weirsdo."

P. S. Thanks for the kind word. Is it o. k. with you and Tali if I link her blog?

G said...

Joel: So true, you get them all their shots, walk them and there you have it! Thanks on Tali's behalf, she'll be proud to read that.

Weirsdo: So funny, while you were here, I believe I was catching up at your place. Thank you for addressing the question - thoughtfully as always.

p.s. It is our pleasure and the link would be an honor.

well i couldn't be more proud if i'd given birth to Tali myself!

seriously, this is very special, and i think it's going to be a terrific experience for her. more work for you, no doubt, but funfunfun for your budding star! xox

i'm going to link to your little Tali-muffin, as well! (ooooh, and Weirsdo, too, as long as i'm in there! i keep forgetting... because, you know, i forget just about everything these days...) xox

She did?? Seriously??? I am excited fo sho! FO SHO! I will jet on over to say hola and add her to the links! Ooooweee! Tali rocks!

nbff: I know you couldn't - thank you! She's very enthusiastic about it. It's a perfect outlet for her. We have gotten this far without giving in to video games and whatever stations, etc. everyone over 7 has apparently. So I thought this would be a better alternative.

She'll be so honored with the link.

cj: They do. Just wait, little Thea and Gracie won't be far behind.

MizB: She did she did. She'll be so excited at all the visitors she has when she gets home from school today!

Brian: Bring! It's muffin-land!

my daughter got me into blogging, and my top coon is a seventeen year old new zealand supergenius called noshit sherlock. this is a great place for girls to express themselves and grow intellectually without the meatspace girl bullshit of looks and clothes. it's tough, though, isn't it, auntie? (specially when you consider all the 46 year old pottymouthed biker art critics out there...brrrrr.)
you be her big mean dog.

FirstNations said...

...1. this is your daughter and not your niece..? i forget.
2. my place is blue and so are a lot of my links. i will not be offended in the slightest if you block me and in fact maybe you should. i blog as an ANTIDOTE to having been a mom and responsible adult, not AS a mom and responsible adult.

G said...

FF: There's a neverending supply there. Some of them are eerie and some are wisecracking though.

FN: Thank G-d for Neurotica! Wow - noshit is 17!?! Love it. I agree - develop your mind and have a creative outlet! So important for children, but particularly girls for the reasons that you mentioned. Yeah don't worry - nobody gets past this bark - grrrrrr. Forty-six year old potty mouthed bikers are the least of my concerns.

BTW: Although I am auntie to many - I am mother to 2 - Tali being one of them. Just wanted to clear that up. Unless you were talking to Auntie Neva :)

FN: We just missed each other. Yeah - I hear ya - good point. Tali will not be bopping around the blogs following me. I have let her see certain sites when something of interest was on them. But she will not be free to roam, so don't worry about her turning up at your place (although if she does, you send her on home :).

G...I was sorta forced to make a blog for my little nephew. He´s 8 and was always lookign at me when I blogged and asking questions. i should have known. We cheated on his age in blogspot. I talke dot his mom about it and since he writes and can only read Icelandic, and is always supervised when on teh computer, well...he has a blog now :)
Good luck with it. I cnaƦt tell you how many calls I had at 6 in teh morning: "So how to you put a photo up and what is a html?"
seriously, good luck with it and Tali...welcome to teh world of blogging!

G said...

Minka: Too bad Tali doesn't know Icelandic! Same with Tali (although she did go to Central Snark one time when she was at her friend Sammy's to show them Vendetta, which I only found out when I went in and saw a comment) but outside of that, she is under my watchful eye. It's a great creative outlet for them. Thankfully, I know just enough basics to keep us afloat. After that, we have all of you! Thank you for both of us :)

Kids! Aren't they great ? I'm going back to read all of your post and click on all the links.
How do all of you do it? It takes me forever to put those links in my posts. If I had written your post today, it would have taken me hours. I'm so impressed. Will I ever be able to do this? Maybe Tali can help. I still have problems with word verification.

Hobbes said...

Neva: Thanks for linking. I will reciprocate. I've now linked Tali too.

About kid blogging, I also cheated with my kids, but believe that supervision and frank discussion of dangers are key to Internet safety. As far as racy sites, I discourage them, but the kids are not into that yet, and if they should happen to see anything improper, I don't feel uncomfortable discussing it.

ah...13...such a wonderful age.
She's her Momma's girl ;)

DaBich said...

OMGoodness 8??? LOL..I thought she was 13...well, she's STILL Momma's girl :)

G said...

Swampwitch! You could have fooled me - you're one linking mama. Truth is, after much tutelage, I have finally gotten the link thing down. Truth is that I was so frustrated in the beginning, it would take me forever! So Tali will benefit from my early stumbling blocks. If you're on blogspot, I can walk you through it. Just let me know.

Weirsdo - thank you - Tali is very excited about all this (especially Pansi's visit). I agree 100% and Tali has never been one to not bring concerns to the table. As Mayor Bloomberg's slogan in New York goes "If you see something, say something." Sort of like McCarthyism but I digress, so we believe open and frank discussions are key.

DB: You're cracking me up. She is her momma's girl, and I only hope so at 13 too!;)

Good luck on the blog, but stay alert. A few years ago a guy knocked on our door and every other door on the block looking for a thirteen-year-old who had a blog. He had come two thousand miles to find her, but no one told him which house she lived in and they finally got him to go away before any crime was committed. The child was scared, that was too close.

G said...

Icy! I bet Tom chased him. I hope that episode had nothing to do with Lammy. I do appreciate the cautionary "tail". For that you get a treat so you don't need to root around in the recycling.

G: I need all the help I can get, regularly. Yes, I'm on blogspot and blogger is just not cooperating today. I see they have an outage planned for later. I think they may already be "outaged."

It was inevitable g. I think this is very cool!

FirstNations said...

anyway, TALI, WELCOME!!!!! you are gonna love it. you have a very cool mom, too.
its a blog mitzvah!

G said...

SW: Whatever meager knowledge on blogger I have, I'd be happy to share. Just send up the smoke signals.

Kyahgirl: You're so right, is was just a matter of time.

FN: A BLOG MITZVAH!!! You just gave me the best idea ever! The tunes of Hava Nagilah stain in...

You are too cool for school baby!

Fun! They do grow fast don't they? Well, I'm a little behind, but I'm heading that way to say hello!

Does this mean I can't swear on my blog no more in case she clicks on profile?? ;-) Oh fine fine...

They do grow fast. And then they start learning so much, stay ever curious, keep ever wonder-eyed.

We're talking about us, right? Oh, you mean Little Tali?? She's wiser than us, I'm sure :-)

GG x

Pinky - Hi, yeah they do grow fast. It's fun though.

GG: I don't swear on my blog to make up for all the times I do in real life. Swear away - it's your blog, and as I mentioned before if you see Talimuffin there, send her on home :)

Actonbell: Who knows - we have this Pez family we use as a role model :)
