PSA

We interrupt the inertia of this blog at this very moment, to bring you a very important announcement. Today kicks off NaNoWriMo! No sillies, it is not another Jewish Holiday that I'm trying to slide in under the radar. What's that? You in the red - "Why didn't I bring this to you sooner"? Well, I am a procrastinator and very rarely see the value of something until it is upon me or perhaps, has even run me over.

Okay - you in the back, "What the heck is NaNoWriMo?". Heh heh, funny. No, "it is not where the detainees from Gitmo are being transferred". Well had you paid attention and been following along at one of the baddest MUTHA'S blogs around, you would have known that it is National Novel Writers Month!

Here's the lowdown - 30 days, write every day, yada yada yada - you've got yourself a 50K word novel at the end. No I did not say published - as if. Okay, every link above explains it just a tad better and with a bit more detail.

But since it starts today, I just thought it would be a valuable tool for every budding writer out there (not me of course).

Well, come on what are you waiting for? Wipe the Snickers remnants from your face and head on out!

I've got a plot to consider for the novel that I'm not writing.

Rabbit Rabbit to the lady in the shade. :-)

one of the ladies from the fragrance board did this last year and it was fun to watch her novel evolve on her blog.

As I've confessed before, I've never wanted to write a book but I sure like reading! Apparently, as evidenced by my slackness in posting, I'm not even writing a blog! :-)

wow that does sound tempting... I wonder if my mrsbg stories would count, but I don't have 30 free days to write... one day I'll release that novel that is itching to get out

NaNoWriMo? excuse me, missy... but shouldn't this have been posted on the SNARK?? i mean, all we had for today was a lousy killer bunny, for cryin' out loud. yeesh. (not that i'm bitter, mind you, but still...)

NaNoWriMo, eh? MeNoWriWellNufToWriMo, dammit. but i'll try. xox

Working backwards -

oh dammit!

Neva: Because I am slightly lacking in forethought, this just came to me at around 10:30 am. Quick as a flash, I wrote it up! Now I for one, would love to see you doing this because you WriPlnTwell! "Try? Do or don't!" haha - she said as she tried to even imagine doing it.

Ann: I don't think you can use something that you've already written as the idea is to just write 50K new words. Go on, give it a try. At least look the place over :)

Kyah: You do sure like reading don't you? But I could see you writing as well from the ahem, little glances that I get.

The Gitmo thing was funny.

Damn, I should have waited 3 days to write my Legend of Diesel story. A little padding, some more dialogue, a little more padding....

Now I'm demoralized.

nope. I'm trying to pare down my prose, not beef it out. i've done long stories-novel? whatever- in the past and found that less is more, in my case.
although I'm thinking about trying to get published. i wonder how one goes about getting started????
i figure i might as well try and persuade someone to pay me for this. after all, someone pays Eric Lustbader, so theres at least one fool out there willing to sign checks.

For novelists, its "NaNoWriMo".

For TV writers, its "NaNoWriMin" -- and that includes ample time for editing.

diesel: I hate to get caught advocating cheating so I won't. Having said that, your starting point might be just a minor change away. Demoralized? My work here is done. Come come, you've got to have a tougher skin than that to get through your rejection notices enroute to publishing!

fn: Well I am a bit partial to your stories. I think that this is how one gets started - uttering the desire out loud. Let the word spread and start checking into it. I for one, have a spot in my library for your collected works!

amen, Al.

NBFF!! i tease you because i lovelovelove you! that said, a TGSNWM will soften the bloggy blow just a tad, and i'll be available to collect on Friday! xox

G said...

Haha Al, just missed you. I like that - might be more suitable for me. I could commit to a minute! I could.

Now I just missed you Neva!!! This is becoming damn interactive!! Then it is on Friday that I shall deliver. I'm giddy I tell ya!

g - I'll have you know I've been rejected by some of the top publishers in the business.

So you think posting about my daughter is a bad idea? Even if I don't mention her name or post a pic?

G said...

Diesel, Wow! Can you give me some tips? The short answer to you question - no. I can't wait to read about her.

I actually have started a something, entitled "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," but it will have to wait until after I've taken care of the NG4J crew, or even later.

Rabbit, rabbit! It would be way too embarrassing for me to attempt a story in public. ACK.

Neva, I liked the killer bunny on Snark. It's important to be reminded that one should not risk another front attack, esp. as the holiday season draws near.

G said...

Weirdso: You are probably well above this novel slam. Yes the whole NG4J is time consuming, but I certainly hope they are not going away. Call me selfish, but can't we have both?

Actonbell: Oh! You don't have to do it in public. Err, that just sounded wrong. Just your own writing for your own eyes if that's what you like. At least that's how I understood it (note to self, actually read things before bringing them to the blogging public). Besides, you already have a loyal following for your writing.

I have to catch up on my videos it seems!

g - First, write some really crappy short stories. The rest will pretty much take care of itself.

G said...

Thanks diesel, that's something I might be able to manage.

G: I just don't have time to write seriously when I am supposed to be practicing. I do plan to get back to the new project during vacations.
